Accessible only by helicopter, Minaret Station is a luxury chalet set within the wilds of the Southern Alps.
Nestled serenely in a glacial valley, it takes its name from the distinctive Minaret Peaks, which stand at over seven thousand feet along the shore of Lake Wanaka.
In such a place where location comes first and accommodation second, you can consider Minaret Station the gateway to New Zealand’s great outdoors.
Between glacially carved valleys and rolling hills of native bush, Minaret Station has ample opportunity to get out and explore.
Embark on a heli-adventure to fly over the endless landscape, or go fishing or hunting with one of the lodge’s expert guides.
Between mountain biking, picnicking, jet boating and heli-skiing, there’s bound to be an experience where you’ll be both moved and inspired.
Nestled within a glacial valley in the heart of the Southern Alps, Minaret Station is only accessible by helicopter. An approximate 15-minute transfer is available from Wanaka airport, or you can arrange to arrive from the nearby city of Queenstown.
Surrounded by the Minaret peaks, Lake Wanaka and the salty waters of both the Southwest Coast and Fiordland, a trip to Minaret Station is all about the outdoors. Fly and sea fishing, wild game hunting and a series of other activities like bush walking, glacier hiking, and golfing are available to guests. Those looking for something a little more low-key can also visit nearby wineries, spend a day at the spa, or enjoy fine dining.
Minaret Station has four luxurious alpine chalets, each outfitted with sheepskin carpets, king beds, ensuite bathrooms and a private patio with hot tub. Hot water is responsibly powered by the waterfall behind the lodge, and guests share additional facilities like the mountain kitchen lodge with its fireplaces, seating areas, library and dining room.
During your stay within the mountains, you can enjoy meals with other guests, al fresco on the deck, or within the privacy of your own alpine chalet. European and Asian fusion cuisines are available, made up of the freshest local produce and paired with a range of local and award-winning wines. As a working farm, Minaret Station also makes use of free ranging New Zealand venison, beef and lamb.
Alpine Chalets
Four luxury Alpine Chalets make up the accommodation at Minaret Station, each with sheepskin carpets, a king or two twin beds, ensuite bathroom and a private patio with hot tub. Luxuriously soft fur throws are laid at the end of the beds, and two cozy armchairs under a window create a cozy space to read a book.
