Well known as one of the Southern Lakes most opulent retreats, Mahu Whenua is an eco-lodge spanning 193 square miles of protected land.
Just 20 minutes from central Wanaka, the property houses four adjoining high country sheep stations and hosts incredible views of the surrounding alpine scenery, valleys and rivers – the perfect scene for a relaxing vacation with someone special. According to the indigenous Polynesian people of New Zealand, Mahu Whenua is Maori for ‘healing the land’, and so keeps its focus on conservation through sustainable farming practices and an extensive plant regeneration and bird breeding program.
With more than 90 percent of the land protected by covenants, you can stay on the largest conservation undertaking on private land in New Zealand’s history, and play your part in keeping this beautiful place so pristine.
