Perfectly situated amongst 50 acres of private grounds and eight acres of internationally-acclaimed gardens, Edenhouse is an enchanting country retreat in the heart of rural Nelson.
Built by the owners and hosts Peter and Bobbie Martin, the uniquely-designed property hosts a maximum of six guests at any one time – guaranteeing personalized service and the utmost attention to detail is always delivered. The large gardens surrounding Edenhouse are a huge part of the draw, providing a cool oasis throughout the summer months and a wonderful alfresco location for dining.
Meals are created with use of fresh and flavorful produce, which is largely supplied by local family growers with generations of experience.
Fine local and award-winning wines that date back to 2006 are also included with dinner, so you can delight your palette with the very best food and drinks.
Nestled in the serene Orinoco Valley between Nelson and Abel Tasman National Park, Edenhouse holds a prime location. Not far from the sunniest spot in all of New Zealand, you’ll find it’s the perfect place for a hotel with gorgeous gardens, several courtyard areas and plenty of opportunities to relax and unwind.
Nelson Airport is closest to Edenhouse, and is just 45-minutes away by car. The Picton ferry terminal is also about a two and a half hour drive from the lodge.
Regarded as a six-star luxury lodge in the South Island of New Zealand, Edenhouse has two luxurious suites and a cottage. The suites can be found within the main lodge, each with pure Irish linen sheets, luxury toiletries, well-stocked refrigerators and comfortable furnishings. The very private two-bedroom and two-bathroom cottage sits out in the garden, and is ideal for a romantic retreat or honeymoon.
With such close proximity to Abel Tasman National Park and a location in the heart of the Nelson region, Edenhouse offers an array of activities to its guests. Charter a boat, board a helicopter or mount a horse to explore these breathtaking landscapes by water, air or land. Hiking, canyoning, biking and wine tasting are also available, as are creative tours where you can meet artists of paint, sculpture or glass.
The Garden Cottage The split level two-bedroom, two-bathroom Garden Cottage is independent of the main home, set within the beautiful tranquil gardens from which Edenhouse gets its name. On the main level a veranda opens to the sitting room, first bathroom and bedroom with an ensuite, while upstairs the second bedroom sits with second lounge area and a wardrobe. The space is 1205 square feet and offers air conditioning, pure Irish linen sheets and luxury toiletries.
The Folly The 1260 square-foot Folly is the second cottage at Edenhouse, brand new from May 1, 2019. Here a sitting room looks out to a spacious veranda, while a large bedroom, mini-bar, dressing room and attached bath make up the other half of the suite. The bathroom has its own separate tub and stand-up shower, and as with the Garden Cottage the Folly offers air conditioning, pure Irish linen and luxury toiletries.
The Edenhouse Suite As of May 1, 2019 the Edenhouse Suite will have two bedrooms combined into one large suite totaling over 1,000 square feet. Ideal for two couples traveling together, it’s upstairs in the main lodge and has two separate rooms with a shared bathroom in between. Downstairs, you’ll have all the main house amenities at your convenience, such as the sitting room, formal dining room, artists’ studio, den and library. Outside of the home, several courtyard spaces provide additional places to eat.
