BLANKET BAY LODGE LOCATION
Located on the northern end of Lake Wakatipu, Blanket Bay Lodge sits just outside of Glenorchy, New Zealand. Queenstown marks the closest airport, and the drive from the airport to the lodge is just 50 minutes through hanging valleys and towering mountains. Of course, helicopter transfers can also be arranged for those seeking a shorter and more exhilarating journey.
If you find yourself coming to Blanket Bay Lodge from another direction, the drive is seven hours from Christchurch, seven hours from the West Coast or four hours from Dunedin.
Blanket Bay Lodge has five varied room types: the four-bedroom Blanket Bay Villa, the two-bedroom Owner’s Residence, one-bedroom Lodge Rooms, spacious Lodge Suites and freestanding Chalet Suites that can be turned into a larger Chalet Stateroom. Room amenities include spacious balconies and outdoor terraces, stone fireplaces, walk-in closets, and ensuites with a separate shower and tub. Twin hot tubs and a private chef are also included with the Blanket Bay Villa and Owner’s Residence.
While at Blanket Bay Lodge, you can make use of the common areas like spa and fitness facilities as well as the main lodge. Open during the summer months, an outdoor heated lap pool captures the surrounding environment with glorious lake views to the south, and in the winter you can simply relax by the fire with a good book in the lodge.
Lodge Room Resplendent in polished wood and fine fabrics, the 400 square-foot Lodge Rooms offer sweeping views across the lake, valley and the surrounding peaks. A super king bed, sitting area and armoire is attached to an ensuite bathroom with granite topped double vanities, separate shower and tub, and just outside is a private balcony or terrace for you to enjoy. All the Lodge Rooms are air conditioned and include three music channels with high fidelity sound, international direct dial phones and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Lodge Suite Larger than the Lodge Rooms, the three Lodge Suites measure at 700 square feet with an additional 400 square foot balcony. Stone fireplaces, walk-in closets and bathrooms with separate steam showers and bathtubs make these rooms unique, while a standard super king-size bed keeps you comfortable through the night. Each suite is air conditioned and equipped with an international direct dial phone and complimentary Wi-Fi.
Chalet Suite Offering privacy, space and comfort, the two 700 square-foot Chalets are adjacent to the main lodge and made of schist stone and timber beams. Interiors are equipped with a super king-size bed, walk-in closets, a stone fireplace and private courtyard, while an ensuite bathroom boasts a steam shower and separate luxurious tub. For larger parties looking to stay together, the two suites can be combined with an additional spacious living room to create the 1400 square-foot Chalet Stateroom.
Owner's Residence Located near the main lodge, the stone and timber Owner’s Residence is perfect for those wanting to stay together but be independent with ultimate privacy. The main house has two large bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, a lounge with large stone fireplace, dining room and a rustic country kitchen, while an elevated studio with two large bedrooms and ensuite bathrooms is independent from the main house. The two are connected by a walkway through the courtyard and surrounded by gorgeous gardens.
Blanket Bay Villa Proudly positioned above the lodge and chalets, the fully-serviced Blanket Bay Villa offers spectacular lake and mountain views alongside plenty of space. Four king suites comprise a bedroom, bathroom and sitting area with a fireplace, which attach to the shared grand lounge and bar with yet another open fire.
