Tamaki Maori Village - Hangi & Concert

Journey by Tamaki coach to a traditional Marae, a sacred meeting place just outside of Rotorua’s city limits. On arrival you will be welcomed into the exquisitely-carved meeting house with a ‘Hongi’ (greeting) from your hosts – a tradition of pressing noses that means you can consider yourself one with the family. Experience the unique culture of the Maori people through the fierce ‘Haka’ (war dance), action dances and stick games. After the performance you will move to the opening of the authentic ‘Hangi’ (feast) pit where you can see the traditional Maori method of food preparation. Spend some time socializing before sitting down to enjoy a Hangi of delicious foods like potatoes, kumara, pork, lamb, chicken and vegetables. Vegetarians are also catered for, and steamed pudding and custard are to follow as desert. You will return to your hotel around 9:30pm.
