Located near Nelson on 150 acres of private forest, you can step right outside the lodge and find the Motueka River, or hop aboard a helicopter to cast your line into a choice of other rivers and streams. Stonefly Lodge has won multiple awards for excellence in its environmental sensitive development and sustainability.

The building has been crafted from natural stone and timber acquired from the property, and the entire complex is powered by alternative energy sources to reduce its environmental footprint.

Go fishing and explore Abel Tasman National Park by day, then return to the lodge and enjoy fantastic hospitality, delicious meals and your inviting suite.

Stonefly Lodge is just a 50-minute drive from Nelson, passing through the many vineyards, orchards and country farms of Moutere Hills along the way. The property itself is 1.5 miles off the main road, so the last part of the journey will be along a riverside track that allows for the lodge’s total privacy.

Daily flights to Nelson are available from three major international airports: Christchurch, Wellington and Auckland. Helicopter transfers can also be arranged to the lodge from Nelson Airport, and take just 15 minutes.

There are four rooms available to guests at Stonefly Lodge, each equipped with ensuite bathrooms, heated towel rails and private balconies overlooking the Motueka River and Mt Arthur Range. All rooms have been designed with your total comfort in mind, and boast fine linen sheets, top quality duvets, hand crafted furniture and New Zealand art.

During your stay at the lodge, enjoy delicious meals prepared by the in-house Executive Chef. Breakfast can be served on the private balcony of your bedroom, and dinners are accompanied by pre-meal canapes. The lodge is intended to be a social space, and has a library, snooker table and a Maitai Bar where guests can gather to swap stories from their day.

Guest Rooms There are four Guest Rooms at Stonefly Lodge: two in each of the two wings, away from the main activities on the ground floor. Each has a super king bed that can be split into two singles if preferred, plus a writing desk, luggage storage, and private ensuite with hairdryer, heated towel rails and bath robes. Should you wish for a little extra entertainment, all rooms also have an iPad and Wi-Fi connection for guest use.
