Solitaire Lodge has nine newly refurbished luxury suites, each with balconies, freestanding tubs and dazzling views of the lake and volcano. Between the Executive Suites, Tarawera Suite, Villa Suite and Solitaire Suite, guests can enjoy spacious living areas, king beds, complimentary mini bars and a selection of fruit and snacks. Groups or families are best booked into the Villa or Solitaire Suites, as they can be made into two bedrooms.

The views continue into the lodge itself, where floor-to-ceiling windows truly bring the outdoors in. Dine on daily-changing fare prepared with fresh local ingredients, then embark on one of the many excursions on hand. From lakeside adventures and thermal soaks to volcanic exploration and hooking the perfect catch, you’ll be spoiled for ways in which to spend your days.

Executive Suite There are 6 Executive Suites, each measuring 355 square feet and overlooking the tranquil bay or glassy lake. Perfect for two guests, you can choose between a lavish super king or two twin beds and enjoy comfortable chairs, grand picture windows and a private balcony with stunning vista. Freestanding baths large enough for you both allow views over the lake while soaking.

Tarawera Suite The 753 square-foot Tarawera Suite is split-level in design, with floor-to-ceiling windows welcoming views of the lake and Mount Tarawera. A generous bedroom boasts your choice of a lavish super king or two twin beds, while a relaxing sitting area and separate dining room make up the rest of the suite. Private balconies are perfectly positioned to take in the exceptional view, and the bathroom has twin vanities plus a separate bath and shower.

Villa Suite This 1076 square-foot standalone villa is all about space and can be booked as one or two bedrooms. On the ground floor, a master bedroom with ensuite joins to an open-plan kitchenette, dining and living area and a deck, while upstairs a second bedroom and ensuite bath can be available to extra guests. Ideal for families or friends traveling together, this suite will feel like your own little house located next to the main lodge building.

Solitaire Suite The Solitaire Suite is in another separate building and can be configured as a one or two-bedroom suite across 753 square feet of space. Made for 2-4 adults or 2 adults and 2 children, it offers dramatic picture windows with views across the lake, a large master bedroom with lounge and bathroom to match, plus a private sundeck and another guest bedroom with separate bathroom access.
