The third largest island in Fiji, Taveuni is still significantly smaller than Vanua Levu (to the west) and Viti Levu (to the south west).
Renowned as the Garden Island for its untamed landscape, nature lovers will find themselves among flourishing jungle, beautiful beaches, hidden waterfalls and abundant wildlife.
In fact, more than one third of the island is claimed by Bouma National Heritage Park, and world-renowned dive and snorkel sites can be found at Somosomo Strait, Waitabu Marine Park and Vuna Reef. When it comes to accommodation on Taveuni, most resorts are clustered near the airport on the northern tip.
Travelers can easily make their way to the island through regular flights and ferries from Viti Levu, where both Fiji Airways and Northern Air fly from Matei airport daily.
Once you arrive, relish in a range of activities from bird watching and diving to hiking to waterfalls with natural stone slides.
