Perth luxury vacations hand-crafted by our Australia specialists.
Perth INTRODUCTION
With more sunny days than any other Australian capital, Perth sheds light on a comfortably laid-back (and very livable) lifestyle.
Nature and urban life thrive in perfect harmony as parks, beaches and bush areas mingle with reputable restaurants, galleries and museums.
An expansive stretch of green covering the centre of the city, King’s Park is Perth’s pride and joy, and a sight to behold if only for its sheer massive size.
Centrally located, visitors to Perth will have easy access to a number of surrounding draws.
Snap a selfie with ‘the happiest animal in the world’, the quokka, on Rottnest Island, or devour maritime and colonial history in the nearby town of Fremantle.
Swan Valley will swoon with palatable wine tasting, and Avon Valley will intrigue with ales aged in a monastery.
Perth Attractions, Sightseeing & Activities
Over in Western Australia, Perth has a range of attractions, sightseeing and activities all its own. It consistently ranks as one of the world’s most liveable cities – likely for its surplus of sunshine and natural splendor – and it certainly does a good job of flaunting its best attributes to visitors. At the centre of the city, Kings Park has multiple attractions: Mount Eliza’s stunning views, the War Memorial’s tribute to servicemen, and Lotterywest Federation Walkway’s suspended pathway over a canopy of plantlife, to name a few.
Swan River has some fantastic cruises and fishing opportunities, the Perth Mint tells stories of Perth’s gold mining past, and the Perth Zoo houses animals from all around the world making for a perfect afternoon activity with family. Go to the Art Gallery of Western Australia for a special collection of traditional and contemporary Indigenous art, or to the futuristic-looking Bell Tower in Barrack Square for 360 degree views of the city.
Perth Shopping & Dining
When it comes to fashion, Perth tends to sport the beachy look by day and a more refined look by night. With this in mind, some areas are better regarded than others when it comes to certain finds. For the cool and eclectic, Oxford Street in Leederville is a fool-proof go-to, however with luxury brands you’re better suited to the black cobbled paths of King Street. Local designers line William Street in Northbridge, and more mainstream marques can be found within Murray Street Mall.
As if taking a cue from the shopping scene (or perhaps vice versa), Perth’s culinary options range from beach casual to fine dining. You’ll find super-fresh seafood in Fremantle, fantastic wines from the nearby Margaret River region, and the Swan Valley is bursting with gourmet goods. It’s worth venturing out to Perth’s suburbs if you have time, for the intimate cocktail bars, romantic restaurants, and cool new openings.
Perth Festivals & Sports
Perth’s sports scene isn’t nearly as robust as that on the east coast of Australia, but that doesn’t mean that it’s non-existent. The Mastercard Hopman Cup already welcomes some of the world’s best tennis players each January, and more events are being quickly added to the calendar. Expect to see the Bledisloe Cup and rugby league State of Origin series come in 2019, and the World Super 6 Perth and Perth SuperSprint add in a mix of golf and racing.
Slightly more developed than its sports scene, Perth’s festival calendar is one to watch. Here you’ll find Perth Festival, the longest running annual international multi-arts festival in the Southern Hemisphere, and the Boyup Brook Country Music Festival, one of Australia’s top country music festivals. Less than three hour’s drive away you’ll also find Southbound music festival, which offers a weekend of music and camping in Busselton, WA.
