Coral Coast INTRODUCTION
Just two hours from Nadi, the Coral Coast is a great destination for those who don’t wish to go far.
An almost 50-mile stretch of vegetated hills and fringing reef, it’s home to plenty of family-friendly resorts and many local villages such as Korotogo that are worth exploring.
Enjoy a swimmable lagoon at high tide, fascinating rock pools on the coral shelf at low and a fantastic market of fresh fruits and vegetables that gives the area its nickname, ‘Fiji’s salad bowl.’ Outside of the villages activities still tend to stay inland, as the beaches aren’t quite as idyllic as those on the smaller islands.
Swimming can be done in hotel pools, or you can take to the Sigatoka Sand Dunes, Tavuni Hill Fort and the Sigatoka Valley to explore Fiji’s first national park, learn about pre-colonial life and wander through fields of sugarcane.
